When we face a tough situation in life, we all tend to ask God, why me? But Norman Vincent Peale once said “Every problem has in it the seed of its own solution. If you don’t have any problems, you don’t get any seeds.” The perfect example for this quote is the life of our own Bala Latha Madam, 2 times civil service rank holder.

Bala Latha Garu, was 11 months old when she lost her ability to walk due to polio drops reaction, all her childhood was lost in her parents trying to get her the right treatment. But none worked. Her school life was not easy either, when she was in her 2nd grade one of her classmate asked her what happened to her, Bala Latha garu replied that she couldn’t walk, the classmate immediately reacted and said she couldn’t be friends with a disabled person. That was for the first time Bala Latha garu, realized she was not like others, the world was not treating her the same way the other children were treated. Since then, she never felt like going to school, she would stay back home and learn what her mom taught. Her scores in school and college were not great. But she was always told by her relatives that she had a great memory power.

Bala Latha garu grew up with a sister who always dreamt of going to US, but Bala Latha garu always wanted to stay in India and do something for her country. When her performance was bad in BA and her relatives thought she is not going to excel in anything, Bala Latha Garu wanted to prove them, wrong. She thought day and night without eating, what were the ways she could become famous? She saw her cousin working hard and preparing for civils, she noticed the respect he was receiving from everyone.

She then decided to write civils. She worked hard day and night, she slept for very few hours. She cleared her mains and went to Delhi for the interview. On a day in Delhi she fell on stairs and felt very embarrassed , she told her father “lets just go back home I don’t want to give the interview”. Her father then consoled her saying “jeevitham lo sahasam cheyyakunda emi raadu, sahasam cheyyara dumbaka”. She then gave the interview and ranked all India 399Th. Everyone started appreciating her. Though she got a rank her posting took an year in that gap year many aspiring students started going to her for doubts, that’s when she understood that she loved teaching.

She then got into the posting in Chennai and started giving coaching there on requests. She trained two students who got top ten ranks. She then shifted to Hyderabad, she used to go to work in the morning and teach students all night. This is when her real journey as a teacher started. In an interview she quoted “When love and skill work together expect the miracle”. When a student with skill meets a teacher with love nothing seems impossible. And she proved it right. She loved her students like a parent, sat with them all night clearing their doubts and giving them questions. But what made her different, was she never settled once she became a teacher. She wanted to be relatable to her students so, without any preparation or agenda she went out to give her second attempt in the exam. This time she backed all India 126Th rank.

Bala Latha garu is considered an inspiration to many. She had done a lot to disabled and LGBTQ community. She has a bigger dream to do more for the country. When Bala Latha garu was a child she used to think, why me? What crime have I committed that I was given this disability. But after achieving a rank, she is thankful that she was stopped by her disability from going to the US like every other and made her to be useful to the country. Her seed was her service to the country.

So next time you get a problem search for the seed, look for the reason and what good it may get you, because it may have a miracle set up for you. And that miracle can make you find the real you and make you epitome of success. As Bala Latha Garu Quoted “if I could do anything, so can you.”
